Convocation
By John Cahill

Convocation is a large ceremony for freshmen beginning their four year career at The College of New Jersey. The incoming freshmen were seated in front of Green Hall. The professors walked by us during the ceremony and President Barbara Gitenstein made a speech welcoming the freshmen as they begin their four years here. During our convocation, we had to dress nicely for the ceremony. The boys wore collared shirts, khaki pants and brown shoes while the girls wore a nice dress. After the ceremony, we went to the Education Building to hear a speech by Dean Passe, the Dean of the School of Education. After meeting with Dean Passe, we met our professors. After that, we went to lunch as a class at the Student Center. After lunch, we met Dr. Petroff, who introduced himself and we talked a little about the book by Wes Moore.
