Career and Community Studies students gain a variety of campus based work experiences during their sophomore and junior years. Students work a maximum of 6 hours per week in 4 of the work sectors noted below. Utilizing elements of the Life Design and Transition curriculum, students are supported in the individual selection process during their advising sessions.
Field placements provide the opportunity to sample a multitude of jobs while working side by side with their TCNJ peers. CCS field placements are student worker positions that perform important tasks, services and support TCNJ’s campus. These valuable experiences lead the way for the students’ senior year internship selection as well as supporting courses of study in TCNJ cross curriculum academic pursuits.
Students also participate in a weekly seminar which supports work based skills, reflection, problem solving and overall growth.
On-site peer mentor support is provided throughout this experience with a goal of fading to natural worksite support.
