Academics

The Career and Community Studies Program provides access to exceptional and rigorous coursework through individualized accommodations and modifications. CCS personalizes academics for all of our achievers. Students develop deep connections with faculty and peers beyond the classroom.

Students are provided with a liberal learning education through both core curriculum and cross-curricular studies.

Core curriculum courses provide foundational support and connect students’ learning to course electives, on/ off campus field placements, and campus life/independent living pursuits.

Cross curricular courses provide opportunities for students to learn from instructors who are experts in a variety of disciplines as well as meet and interact with peers in different departments off campus.

Trained, peer academic mentors support CCS students in courses based on student needs and course levels. Students also receive support outside of the classroom through academic coaches and group study electives.

Students are connected with both the campus Accessibility Resource Center as well as our Academic Coordinator who work together to develop accommodations suitable for individualized student needs.

Students are provided with an Accommodations/Modifications At-A-Glance document in which they have an active role in designing with our CCS team. Students learn to speak to this document and advocate for their own academic needs.
